So.....got an Eversolo A6 Master Edition which I use for background music and as a "transport" for streaming ans 2Tb of internal storage, but also got a Wyred 4 Sound DAC 2v2 Ltd Edition for "proper" digital listening.
Uses the 9038Pro chip.
I've been using an MBL pre ( now listed in the Classifieds here) into various power amps, and had the DAC set to it's fastest filter, sharper/leaner.
Now gone NZ, a Plinius , and the W4S sounded awful.
Too thin and lean, so after much reading , looking at Fora, and a quick email to W4S, ( and lots of listening) , have gone for a filter that wouldn't have been the obvious , but has made quite a change.
Not night and day , but subtle enough in most areas to change the overall delivery in a very acceptable way.
Gone for Apodizing Fast Roll off Linear, which many purists seemed to "poo poo" , but also the one Wyred recommended.
Definately worth trying the filters.
