I've defo noticed a softening effect when listening via Mac mini/wifi/sbt/usb/mdac as opposed to Meridian CD transport it's rather as if transients were being rounded off...less swing kinda... It has prompted me to ponder getting a mac mini for the music room to feed mdac via usb.
 
At least the item audio great usb cable poll hasn't come back to bite us .... yet

It's past the thread-split length, so I think I'll kill it rather than split it into chunks. If anyone feels able to pick a sensible discussion out of it that's worth developing then please feel free to start a new thread.
