Digital connections - can I use a BNC>RCA adaptor and a coaxial digital cable?

My CD player has a coaxial digital output which uses a BNC connection but I only have a coaxial digital lead with RCA phono plugs fitted. Can I use a BNC > RCA adaptor to make the connection?

I am using a BNC to coax adaptor to use an old Linn Mimik as a transport into a DAC using a coaxial cable. I realize that's not quite the same, but I can't see why your coax to RCA wouldn't work in the same way.

Not sure what I've done wrong but using the adaptor and my digital cable for some reason I'm getting no signal to my DAC. I've found my toslink cable now though and this works fine so isn't much of a stress. The CD player is an Exposure 2010s so don't know if this has a different arrangement of the coaxial output?

I use them all the time and never had an issue like that - and they're just the regular ones from Maplins.....

It should work fine, however, long term if you like the combo I would get the lead re terminated with a BNC. Does make a difference.
