my dimage f100 has bitten the dust
any member could point me in the right direction for a replacement around
£100.

If you want to make me an offer, you could have my Olympus C3030.

It's not in perfect nick (the lens cap is cracked and doesn't stay on), but I'll throw in an extra memory card and a lowepro case if you want them.
 
IMHO all Canon digital cameras are better than any other brands at the same price. Cheap ones and expensive ones, doesn't metter. Something like Canon A520 is not so expensive, maybe you try this one.

Is 100 pounds your limit? That's basically the entry-level P&S market, so doubling your budget would allow a lot more possibilities.

Pentax, Kodak, Samsung, HP

It's all easily filtered to your price range / manufacturer, etc.

Personally, I'd go with the Pentax or Kodak from what I've heard. I've got a Sony which I'm very happy with, so go for Sony up to £135 and there are some stormers in there!!!
