Decca are at it again...

This time it's Analogue! No idea what's going to be in there, but there's an amazing back-catalogue to plunder for sure.

Wasn't most if not all the last one analogue originally too?

Could it simply be a reissue?

Tim

Not all but certainly a lot was analogue. There`s more discs than the original set and there`s certainly many Decca recordings from the fifties that could be re-issued but it would be very irritating if there was a significant overlap.

I'd be surprised to the point of astonishment if there was any overlap at all - one would reject tons of great stuff just filling it with 2000 series SXLs, let alone 6000 series or SETs, and based on the last box it may well encompass other Decca imprints (Argo, L'Oiseau-Lyre etc). I'm sure it will be a lovely thing and I can't wait to see what's in it! Could this be the one to tempt me?

I see what they've done there - the first CD is 1980, the next 1979 and then back through the 60's and 50's to their first stereo in 1947.

I got it a couple of weeks ago, and really, it's everything that you might hope. Great repertoire with a mixture of lollipops and the less well known. The card sleeves are thicker and have a matte coating which I don't like quite as much as the first set, which seems a silly complaint, but I think that half the pleasure that I got from that was having miniatures of the original sleeves. That always does it for me!
Many happy hours of listening ahead.

David Mellor raved about it in the Mail on Sunday a couple of weeks back, but don't let that put you off.

I keep looking at it and thinking, I have several of those actual recordings and good versions of most of the the other pieces.... and yet the pull is still there.

Got an unopened copy of this via a certain auction site a couple of weeks ago for £50! I was the only bidder as well. Absolutely stonking set.
