Dan Reeder has a new one out

A more polished effort than 2004's eponymous debut from the full time painter, part time musician. The scribbled cover art is Photoshopped for smoothness!

The songs are about surfing, beer, pussy and cowboys, and there's a lament to JS Bach after he was killed in a boxing match.

Just lovely, warm, sweet, chunky, crudely made and recorded (technically, but the sound is excellent) blue collar American folk, everything played and recorded by the man himself. Soft vocals in a heavy accent with 3 part harmonies. I can just picture Dan driving around the backwoods in a battered old pickup truck.

Musically it's like Bill Frisell's ultra-American countryesque stuff, only 10 times more primative. I think Dan made enough money on the last to actually buy a guitar from a shop, though his bass guitar at least is still made out of rubbish from a skip.
