Dali Menuet

I'm asking about the normal Menuet that retails for £899, not the SE version.

What is their sound signature like?

Are they relatively easy to drive?

Thanks.

S.

Dali speakers have an up-tilting treble response on-axis in order to sound flat at the listening spot when no toe-in is used. Because they're putting out more treble than regular speakers I would only use them in large rooms and well away from the side walls. If your room is small avoid.
Other than that idiosyncrasy they seem very competently designed.

As usual the rule of thumb is to listen before buying.

I've listened to the Dali Menuet and liked them. Good vfm definitely.
I compared them on an integrated, 70 Watt-ish, which was nice
and then had them on a 200 Watts Sansui power amp.
the + in control with the Sansui was impressive, so they are well rewaring with more control.
Whether that's necessary is another question, I'm a bit pampered with pwr amps,
so that's probably what I would do.
Normally though, about 70Watts should give sufficient results and a balanced way to spread the budget
and a result that doesn't give any reason for complaints.

In the second round, I let the Dalis run against a pair of ATC SCM7.
A comparison I can recommend..the ATC's distanced out the Dalis nicely,
but the Dalis held their own in their prize range ofc.

I went for the ATCs in the end, bc for me the vfm overall seemed a bit better still,
or..rather...I really wanted that performance plus they offered.

Nontheless I have great respect for the little Dalis..there's a lot worse you could buy
for even more money in some places.

A comparison of the Menuet on a 200Watts amp against the SCM7 on an average integrated
would have been interesting..but I didn't do that one.
I have a suspicion though that I would have preferred the SCM7 in that comparison, too..

ps: sound perception is a difficult thing..it so depends where you come from
& what you are used to..

I am used to Yamaha NS1000, so very clear and clean performance is what I'm used to.
Thus I perceived the Dali's treble as clear and detailled but in no way sharp in any way.
The bass gave a nuance of warmth and was well defined & together a very homogenic package,
very well done in total.
A remote friend uses those with Croft amps in a very small room and is very satisfied with them.
So..just as Tuga suggested..you'll need to try them yourself.

I can hardly tell if you would perceive the treble as too much, to me it was absolutely fine.
