Cyrus 3 with PSX non-R?

I wonder if the above combo can be used together, or for the Cyrus 3 it's a must that the PSX-R be used only with the amp?

The 'non-variable' PSX-R was built in the serial number range
up to and including HBU00421 and HBE01351. All other PSX-R
products are of the 'variable' type. The 'non-variable' PSX-R is
compatible only with the Cyrus III, Discmaster, Dacmaster,
dAD 7, dAD 3 (including Q and Q24 versions)."

If its the cyrus 2 psx then it can only power the Cyrus 2.

Edit to say if you get a psxr you want to fit to a Cyrus 3 you have to open up the amp and do this for it to work

The older plain PSX in the same style case as the Cyrus 1/2 cannot be used with the Cyrus 3 onwards. The original supply is an unregulated dc type on its main output - the 'R' on the later versions is for 'regulated'. The older PSX does have a secondary regulated output but thats for the PCMII CD player only.

Incidentally, when you add a PSX-R to a 3 or 7 you then have a fully regulated power amp in much the same way as the original Exposure designs or the Naim 250/135 - but the Cyrus is the better design.

If you have an old PSX (for Cyrus 2) and you're in north America I'd be interested in buying it. PM if you ever decide to sell. thanks !
