Couldn't believe how disinterested they were.

If memory serves they used to be free tickets that you got via the BBC. I had a friend who knew a friend etc who got us a few tickets from the ones recorded in Golders Green. I remember seeing a two part recording of a show with Louden Wainwright and XTC. It was quite odd - very much being in a tv audience rather than at a recording of a gig.
