Creative bookshelves

Very much like the staircase one with CD storage in the stairs. If I still lived in a sparce modernist loft apartment type space and had the budget I'd do that.

Get a kindle, this problem goes away.

Although I do like the organic splitting out of the wall one.

That was my first thought, but the stair risers tend to get kicked a lot so I think it would damage the CDs/books unless you had doors to protect them (perhaps hinged at the bottom with magnetic clasp at the top.

Would like to know if the paddle stairs are purely for storage system or are in fact access to another room/area.
I always thought with paddle stairs the riser is left open for maximum foot tread area, this must be USA/non UK as building regs here might have something to moan about.

Wonder if there any such designs for record/hi-fi storage/display.

I am picking up a habit for fetish books, vintage porn (Taschen etc) typography and art otherwise books and have been considering ways of adding to the spiral Staircase a sort of undershelf that goes under each tread so that the books can be accessed, seen, browsed but not imposing like a wall of media so often is... ought to be a nice feature. Thinking of bent sheet metal brackets screwed to the underside.

Need to be sure the stress loads are ok...
