Coronavirus - the new strain XXIV

While infections & hospital admissions continue to rise, the govt has done away with protective & monitoring measures, leading to much uncertainty. So today, we are having a Public Q&A to address your concerns + latest on Covid by @chrischirp, 1:30pm!

Cases seem to be at a peak but will they stay at this peak for a while? So many people have Covid now and have done over the last 6 weeks (of course not all the same people). The stats on infected people are irrelevant as there’s so little testing.

I’ve not knowingly had it yet…it must happen soon.

Thousands of ventilators pulled as electrical faults put UK patients’ lives at risk
Electrical problem triggers global safety alert on 2,000 Philips machines

Hospitals have been ordered to source replacement ventilators after Philips Respironics said its breathing support devices could suddenly stop working, in some cases without activating a warning alarm.

Testing negative, but feeling rather lethargic. All the reading suggests this abates somewhat in a couple of weeks. Hopefully this will be the case.

My LFT was negative for the first time since I came down with Covid twelve days ago. I am still snotty and chesty though and dare not imagine where I would be now had I not been fortunate to receive the antivirals. My wife tested negative a couple of days earlier than me presumably due to having a better antibody system.

On the downside, my Father in Law has caught it in his care home just one week after they removed the remaining precautions.

Hopefully things are beginning to look up for you. Fingers crossed for FiL...

Covid threat being ignored in England for ideological reasons, say NHS leaders
NHS Confederation calls for ‘living with Covid’ plans to be reconsidered as health system struggles

“The brutal reality for staff and patients is that this Easter in the NHS is as bad as any winter,” said Matthew Taylor, the chief executive of the NHS Confederation.

“But instead of the understanding and support NHS staff received during 2020 and 2021, we have a government that seems to want to wash its hands of responsibility for what is occurring in plain sight in local services up and down the country. No 10 has seemingly abandoned any interest in Covid whatsoever.

“NHS leaders and their teams feel abandoned by the government and they deserve better.”

Hopefully you will recover quickly from here on in.

Care homes, hospices and sheltered accommodation have all been hit really badly by the rules throughout Covid (lockdowns etc and not being able to see people at all and the effect on mental health and their core health) and now by relaxing everything and not putting the measures in place that have been presented in this thread, many, many times.

Boy... "Peters’ documentary alleged that COVID-19 is not a virus at all but rather a synthesized form of snake venom that is intentionally being spread via drinking water, COVID-19 treatments, and vaccines, possibly as part of a plot by the Catholic Church to turn everyone into “a hybrid of Satan.”" https://www.rightwingwatch.org/post...ers-unveils-a-new-covid-19-conspiracy-theory/

That sure beats the boring Wuhan lab explanation.

Perhaps some sort of prize is in order?
