Please keep posting @gavreid . I have not been well and my posting has become much less frequent in this thread, but I do read it and will contribute where I can add to the discussion as I recover from my treatment.

There’s some good news in the battle against long Covid

Number of people with Long Covid is reducing (still a long way to go though). With the implication that people are recovering.

With some progress towards a means to identifying Long Covid and better means to treat it.

Good Morning All,

Was unable to raise Kate the evening before last and noted the Zoe hadn't been unplugged yesterday morning and no contact up until lunchtime so called our eldest son and asked him to go around and check on her.

Found her ever so slightly under the weather with what can only be COVID and barely able to move or do much. She had been feeling off since Friday morning but three LFT tests were negative. Lots of lethargy and sweating and felling s**t but I know there are people on here who have been through it.

She has had all the jabs.

Support now jacked up.

Hopefully she won't be too infectious by the time I get home - I've still dodged it and will be looking to get my second booster when I get home.

Regards

Richard

Is COVID-19 winding down? Scientists say no.

"Eric Topol, head of Scripps Research Translational Institute, said the world is likely to keep seeing repetitive surges until “we do the things we have to do,” such as developing next generation vaccines and rolling them out equitably."

I was quite shocked, on my recent visit to the UK, to see almost nobody wearing masks in indoor spaces, even the elderly, and even in a jam packed train car. Here in Massachusetts mask wearing has fallen off, but I'd estimate maybe 30% of shoppers and 50+% of train riders wear a mask. I just don't get it. Even if you are not clinically vulnerable you likely have a friend or relative who is, and you could still end up with long Covid. I guess this is a what we get from the right wing politicizing the most serious pandemic of the last 100 years.

Covid vaccine: Children turning five won’t be eligible for the jab unless they are at high risk
Scientists are angry at the decision not to vaccinate those turning five from this month, warning it will put children in danger and hamper the pandemic response

[There was no time limit published in the JCVI minutes - this has been invented post hoc]
