I heard a track from this new album by Chris Watson on Late Junction on Wednesday night and was blown away. It consists of sounds recorded on and around a train crossing Mexico but it's so well recorded and edited that you can feel the heat and the dust. As an example of the field recording genre, this is as good as it gets, up there with Geir Jenssen's Cho Oyu 8201m.
I'm a great admirer of Chris Watson's work but this album could be his best yet, I reckon. Well worth a listen for anyone who likes field recordings or ambient music. It's still available on iPlayer for a few days.
