Bx300E Tape Eject Damping

Hi,

I've got a Nakamichi Bx 300e that's fine other than the damping on the door, when you eject the tape, seems to have failed and it opens really quickly. Is this an easy DIY fix, and if so where do I get the spare part please ?

There is a plunger that may need adjustment, or new grease. This may help, or not.

Spare parts for decks have been generally unavailable for 10-20 years now. Your only option is a parts deck. I suspect that any of the BX series will do, and most probably the CR series as well.

These dampers are usually simple affairs
Just a piston in a tube moving through a grease or thick oil as a damping fluid

On old ones the damping grease has probably dried up and needs replacing...that will probably sort it

As others have said its probably the grease has dried up, but it could be that the mounting has come loose ?.
So you will need to replace it with something like silicone grease, PS don't get any on the capstan belt
looking at the front of the BX300 its on the lower left hand side
Take the top off to get access to it, see pictures with draw open and closed
