Metro Bank closes Brexit/Reform Party bank account (from The Telegraph).

"It is absolutely outrageous," said Mr Tice of the July 27 letter. "We are fifth in the polls. It's not like we're some extremist zealots. We got 300,000 votes in the May elections. If we believe that we're a proper functioning democracy then new disrupters need to be able to operate. You can't operate if you don't have a bank account that you can pay bills with."

No blaming the EU - a first.

How’s he going to keep Brexit Barbie in the manner to which she has become accustomed?

Look at the Express gloating in the overwhelming success that Brexit has been! https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1...tages-supermarkets-supply-crisis-brexit-covid

And look at all us Remoaners left with egg* on our faces.

* Obviously not real egg, as there's none left in the UK.
Down at the Express, they don’t know where the next Ginster’s coming from-

“Army HGV drivers on stand-by as Britain's food supply crisis escalates”

but cometh the hour, cometh the man

His name shall be Francois. Private Francois of the Army Catering Corps

“No strategic planning by U.K. Government to make Brexit a success” . The Hitachi train factory created in Durham, to build trains for Europe will now only service U.K. demand- the site will not reach its planned capacity as Italy will take over production for the European market.

A letter to Boris Johnson sent a fortnight ago by James Ramsbotham called on the prime minister to save the north-east from the “damage being done to our economy” by Brexitand urged him to give it his “most urgent and personal attention”. Two weeks later, it remains unanswered.

Ramsbotham is the chief executive of the North East England Chamber of Commerce and speaks for thousands of businesses caught by the red tape and extra costs of complying with EU rules. In a recent survey, 38% of members said sales to Europe had fallen since January.

^ And let's not forget the army are on standby to deliver food to the supermarkets. I'm sure the Brexiteers who pine for WW2 Britain will be cheering and flag waving in high streets across the country.

PS See that's already been mentioned up thread but worth repeating.

Boris is too busy playing wiff waff* in the dining room at Chequers or touring Scotland where he is unloved, to answer the letter from the North East Chamber of Commerce about plans to mitigate their economic losses from Brexit.

* “Ping-pong was invented on the dining tables of England in the 19th century, and it was called Wiff-waff! And there, I think, you have the difference between us and the rest of the world. Other nations, the French, looked at a dining table and saw an opportunity to have dinner; we looked at it an saw an opportunity to play Wiff-waff”.
(Boris Johnson)

So we are roughly 100,000 lorry drivers short.

We have called in the army who will be providing 2000 of those.

This seems a prima facia explanation for empty shelves in supermarkets.

The media though seem largely happy to repeat the government line that this to do with COVID and specifically the "Pingdemic".

Which raises a number of obvious questions:

-- How come the shelves are not similarly empty in France and Germany?

-- How come their track and trace apps have not similarly paralyzed their supply chains? Are they more "world class" than ours?

-- Is this really happening or is it still Project Fear?

-- How's that list of Brexit benefits going?

I believe there is a plan to reduce the costs and difficulty of passing the HGV tests. And to use our new found freedoms to allow lorry drivers to drive for longer with fewer rests.

This is an excellent plan and cannot possibly go wrong.

Have you seen "Duel" or "Mad Max 2"?

And another 100,000 must surely be training to fill the NHS staff shortage. Need to make those exams a bit easier too: speed things up.
The positives are positively flowing now...

Yup. That’s 200,000 new jobs created by Brexit innit.

Definitely. Bet them Europeans are kicking themselves now.
