Bowers And Wilkins dm1

I bought DM3s, which are vey similar 3 ways, new in 1971. They were very clean sounding speakers with a tight bass and limited power handling. I moved them on after a few years to a grateful workmate who had a more appropriate amp. I certainly enjoyed them, even with the very elaborate and necessary grilles. They came with individual frequency response graphs, posh.

Underrated speakers, the DM1s.
I have owned two pairs, the Sony SS1000 version and the real thing.

They’re a little bass shy and that can be enhanced by close-to-wall placement.
The midrange is excellent and the top end too.
How can you go wrong with the HF1300 and Coles drivers ?
Not to pass by the elliptical EMI unit.

If you’re buying a pair, check the surrounds of the EMI bass/mid. driver.
They stiffen over the years and sometimes come away from the chassis.
