Blimey dropping like flies now. RIP will soon require a separate subsection...

Sad to see another one go.

Saw him once walking around at Old Trafford - he must have been commentating. He had the most intense 1000 yard stare I've ever seen.

Really sad news, didn't know he was ill. Great bowler & excellent grumpy commentator

Very saddened to read this, probably the best truly fast bowler of our generation, and someone who told it as it is.
    RIP Bob

Gosh - I surprised he was that old. Still, no great age these days.

Part of my younger days driving the country listening to TMS on long wave, with Willis thundering down to the bowling line.

Andrew C! Been around a while....

Immense in his prime - and loved his comments, especially on The Verdict. The Headingley test was etched in my memory as a young England fan.

Great bowler , pretty scary if you were facing him when he was on song .

Great fast bowler. Never gave less than 100%. Dodgy knees but still came steaming in. Memory always suggests he took a wicket in his first over, often LBW beaten for pace.

As a kid - he was the guy you learnt to do an impression of when bowling. Fantastically weird run up.
  15. SteveS1

    SteveS1 I heard that, pardon?

Great bowler. Led by examole and a first rate grump too. RIP. Always enjoyed Root's tease.....

Very sad, liked to watch him as a bowler and also later giving his opinions on the days play on Sky.
    RIP Bob

There's a good TMS podcast where Brearley et al speak about him.
