They'd undergone genetic modification to make them more effective warriors in TNG, iirc - but unfortunately for a Kirk battle it'd have to be TOS - as long as it's later TOS so the costumes/makeup aren't so bloody ridiculous.

Thank you Joe. So the Gorn was in fact green, and what I had thought was a stylish cravat in the still turned out to be battledress. But an inanimate piece of grey polystyrene did play a vital role.

I bloody hate excessive branding too and avoid products that carry it, but complaining publicly is very seldom the way to get what you want.

Complaining calmly and privately can often work out to your advantage.

I believe, iirc, the instruction to the makeup artists was "make them look Mongolian." Not sure about the Ming the Merciless eyebrows, though.

Don't get me started on Romulans. Didn't they start off being totally different to Vulcans, then getting a bit of a reformat during TOS to be their over-emotional "cousins?"
