I got a Bifrost DAC [basic one ] on Ebay at a reasonable price .I have wired it up to my computer with a 5 metre USB printer cable [ again a basic over the counter one ] to play FLAC files of my music . I have also wired up to my CD player [Astin Trew 3500 modified with new valve and other electronic bits as specified by maker ] with digital cable [ about $ 50 au ] . So now I can play one after the other Flac file , DAC modified CD player and basic CD player straight to amp . I don't know what I was expecting but there is no significant difference between the 3 routes . I suppose that was the purpose of the exercise transferring my music to the computer so am happy with that
The rest of the equipment is Lavardin IS amp , Livng Voice Avatar speakers , Michell Orbe tt with Rega arm and Dynavector 7D cartridge and Dynavector 75 phono stage .
