The few I have heard have been pretty poor - instead I use a Line Out cable which can then be plugged into a variety of devices with aux input rather than be limited to a dock. Not what you asked but a different approach that might of interest
I'd look at the cheapest end of active monitors aimed at home recording / bedroom DJs etc and just hook the iPhone up to them, e.g. something like these from M-Audio. Not heard them myself, but that's where I'd go looking.

Your best bet by far from what I've heard from docks. Horrible things!
You could do much worse than a s/h pair of Fostex PM0.4's. I have a pair in my bedroom and they are spectacularly good for the cash either with a laptop or my iphone.
About £90 ish.
