Just heard. Yet another memory from childhood- watching University Challenge after school.
It was never quite the same when Paxman took over. He did a few history documentries later,
but it's for UC that he will be remembered, certainly by me. Brings your own mortality into
sharp focus.

Aye, the definitive quiz and question master, loved watching it growing up in my teenage years, thrilled when I got questions correct - classical music was a mystery to me at the time.

Very sad. A rather nice chap; he was a regular in a pub in Richmond I used to frequent in my lunch hour.

One of my childhood icons gone. I loved University Challenge, even though I couldn't answer a single question. I remember his gentle "have to hurry you" compared to Paxman shouting "come on". RIP Bamber.
