PM me if you have any questions.

I'm ABSOLUTELY not that kind of boy!

Oh, oh <blush>, you mean the AMP. <phew>

<ahem>

OK - I'll see if I can remember how to take Olive cases apart.

It's all for charity after all.

Just remove the feet and the other (3?) bolts on the bottom and slide the sled out taking care not to damage the front panel......

OK, I may have missed something but:

new power switch
original power supply removed
Avondale MiniCap6 power supply installed
n.b. no +24v supply to preamplifier
RCA phono input sockets installed in parallel with retained DIN socket
power transistors replaced with MJ15003 devices and stainless steel hardware
SOA circuitry removed
remaining tantalum beads replaced on a like for like basis
work carried out in 2008

A very nice amplifier!

P.S. If I didn't have my own DIY version of most of the above in my NAP140 I'd be putting a bid in to this very worthy cause.

Hi Jonathan,
How would this Avondale 140 compare with the original NAP140 and other heftier Naim amps, a chrome bumper 250 to be specific (as I have my eye on one)? Just curious as to what the Avondale variant is capable of, especially with inefficient heavier speaker loads. Plus, is amp encased in an original 140 shoe box? Thanks.

Blue

The amp is encased in what I believe is an original Naim sleeve. i.e. it looks very like every other one I've seen and my hi-cap.

I am not the best person to ask about Naim and/or Avondale power amps as this is the only one I've ever owned.

I'd suggest dropping a thread into the audio room on this site asking this question and linking to this thread. There are a lot of people who are very knowledgable on this subject (see misterc6 above). Maybe also the DIY room.

Regards,
Jonathan
