Its showing signs of old age I hope it’s not terminal .The Cd spins for a a second or two then it comes up with ERROR it used to be intermittent but now it is permanent ,any ideas?

Best to take this to a tech who knows of what they speak. It's probably fixable. I think this used the long retired Philips CDM12.1 mech. There are current 'replacements' for this, of apparently dubious quality and performance. It may just need a service though. More than a decent player in its day (25 years old or so?) ; if you like it and its sound, then you should certainly explore having it repaired.

Yes, CDM12 and the first things to do are:
1) Clean the lens
2) Clean off the old grease from the worm drive and relube with a very sparing amount of plastic friendly low viscosity grease.

What a cheapo transport !cant see how to access anything ,would post a picture but haven’t set up a hosting site, who do people use?I used Photobucket historically.
