Audio cabinet

Dear all,

I would like to replace my Solidsteel audio rack, by a good quality audio cabinet ( with sliding doors ) of approx 1 meter wide and 60 cm high.

There does not seem to be a lot of companies making good audio cabinets for Hi Fi gear... I see audio racks of all sorts, but few audio cabinets...

Any advices?

I don't speak with any authority on the matter, but I suspect racks are preferable because air can circulate to cool the amplifiers.

ABSOLUTELY !

I had to remove the glass door of mine to allow enough air to circulate - actually it was the SKY box that suffered worse and regularly went chaotic until it got more air but the pre-amp was running pretty hot too.

I did think at one time of fitting a fan to the cabinet to help.

You might get away with cd/streamer/possibly pre-amp but certainly not power amps in a closed cabinet.
