Their new record, and the last AEoC recordings made with Malachi Favors before his death last year. Now that the Ensemble are a threesome, and have lost 3 long-time members, who knows if they will ever record again. If this is their swansong it's a worthy one. 14 short tracks, mostly under 4 minutes, beautifully played, extremely melodic and almost wistful, this marks a bit of a departure for the group, and a return to simplicity. It's been out for a couple of months but seems to have largely overlooked by the critics for some reason. A lovely record for a hungover New Year's Day.

That's a great label BTW. I also spotted an album by the one and only Revolutionary Ensemble! Got that one, too!
