Why was it called a 'turbo?'

Because it had system whereby, when loud grooves were encountered, the gain would increase to make things even more loud. Unfortunately I believe the reason Jez discontinued it was the well-known ‘turbo lag’ problem, which meant the screaming guitar solo was half over before the boost came in.

I don’t think I’m giving too much away by revealing that he’s now working on a supercharged version which will be much better. As everyone knows, this is the gentleman's method of forced induction, after all.
