Arcam Alpha 7SE CD Player Display Problem

My cd player's digital display does not work on start-up but does come on after an hour or so. When I switch the player on the display gives a "glimmer" then nowt until it "warms up?". Any suggestions as to why this happens would be welcome. (Solutions too!)
PS The player works fine otherwise.
