Anybody running a McLaren 650/570?

Guess it’s worth it once he’s behind the wheel!

Unless the numbers come up, I’ll never own one but I prefer the looks of the McLaren's to the current Ferrari’s. The F450/480 were great looking things but the current one is just plain ugly IMO.

I’d still want a GT3 of some sort to run alongside the McLaren though. Quite like the understated looks of the GT3 Touring.

To me, the Ferrari 458 is the last of the lookers. If OP had asked a year or two ago I'd have said get a 458 over a 650S but that's when 458's had dipped to about £100k but they've gone up to £130k (well deserved).

Choice is harder now as a good 650S is about £90k? McLarens are silly fast but how fast do you need for a road car as I assume that's what they'll be used for 99% of the time.

Sorry, got my F numbers mixed up and meant the 458 as you've said. Great looking things.

Yes, I have seen a few on the move but a dealer near me had one and I went to look properly. Such a sweet design and there's stuff in there that the camera just doesn't catch like that little vent at the top rear. The way they didn't break the rear quarter panel with a side vent (unlike the 488). Such an Event car to walk up to and get in I imagine and well worth the £100k they dipped to when you see some of the design messes about fetching that money.

If I were to win big time…

My brother had one. He bought it new in 1972 when he was in the Army for £1890 (in 'kit' form, which I believe was to avoid some/all of car tax at the time?). Same year my sister bought a terraced house (no bathroom, outside loo) for £750, so I guess it was a big wedge in 72. His was orange.

Not very long later, he had a Mk1 Escort. I later found out that his (then) girlfriend wanted a go (she had no licence) and wrapped it around something. He still married her after that, not sure why, as he never forgave her, and now divorced anyway...

A 458 would be in my 10 car dream garage along with a 288 GTO and the FF (In dark silver). Add a Porsche CGT, 911R & Singer 964. E30 M3 Evo, M2 CS, Audi RS6 Avant and either a Peugeot 205T16 or Lancia Delta S4 for forest track fun.

I don't think that lot would swallow up too much of a decent Euro lottery win. :D

Sorry for the thread drift OP.

Sat in a Delta S4, couldn’t get the tips of my toes on the pedals. At all. No way. Frustrating!

I'd definitely need euro lotto to run even a 458! Skip to around 5:20

And skip to 19:20 for his verdict on 650S values.

Just managed to stay on topic after all! ;)

And 25:45 for 997.1 owners.

In any sensible world can't imagine why anyone would want more than a 911.
But for those that do there is the GT3 (and yes it is different): there can't be more than a couple of people on here who could drive a GT3 at anywhere near its limit.
Certainly no interest in McLaren or Lambo. I like Aston but a little too risky on build for the reward.
There is only one mad world car I wouldn't mind tootling around in: Ferrari GTC4.
