And for an off the beaten track one, that woman out of Affinity...you know, on the vertigo swirly label.
 
Try Randy Crawford and Joe Sample. Their album "Feeling Good" is stunning and as well produced as anything I've heard, probably ever.

The singer is Olivia Chaney along with The Decemberists. Her solo stuff will stop you in your tracks.
