Any love for MX5’s?

that's a bugger. As you are in the first month I would be having a chat about them making a contribution. You paying parts and them fitting wouldn't be out of the way and it gets them goodwill without paying money.
It’s clearly laid out in the docs, so engine, gearbox, clutch, drive train, head gasket, drive belts but not stuff like elec windows.

It’s not the end of the world but annoying!

Yes, I realise that it's laid down in the docs, legally it's very clear but what I'm suggesting is that you have a chat and say "Come on gents I haven't had it a month and it's got a fault. I know that this isn't of your doing but it doesn't look good so soon after purchase, I've come to discuss the possibility of shared costs"

Hmm, I might send an email and see what they say. Thanks.

You probably have checked that the window lock switch isn't depressed, that will prevent the passenger window from operating.

Update: first breakdown!

Window is stuck down, apparently the regulators on the ND are made of cheese.

Luckily a company does a much better than OEM one with a five year warranty so have just ordered one:

Oh well, as issues goes it's not a big one.
I've replaced a few Porsche ones in the past and I'd say the MX5 is alot easier!

Interesting that the replacement regulator you linked to includes the motor so I wonder if the common fail point is the motor or snapped cables.

Probably cables but honestly don’t know.

I'd imagine cables. You could do some preventative greasing, because like bike cables I bet they don't in the factory. Then a bit of corrosion sees them off. Renew them, with grease, that's you done for 10+ years. Inside a door, even longer.

The MX5 is an awesome car. I purchased my other half a black sport nav 2.0 with cream leather that she loved. I started driving and it always put a smile on my face despite being 6ft4 and 19 stone!

I loved it that much I changed the black one for the 30th anniversary Orange one with the 184 power output. I loved it but my other half hated the attention that came with the bright colour so I reluctantly sold. I wish I had kept it as they sell now for more than I sold it at 9 months old a couple of years ago (3 1/2 years ago I think).

I had to put up with some mates calling it a girls or hairdressers car but I couldn’t give a t055 as it’s such a great car.

My friend has a 30th in orange, with the folding hard top. It's a great car. Even with the roof down there is decent boot space, it takes 2 rucksacks with rock climbing gear for a day out.

This 30th has just been listed near me. Pretty sure it's the one I sat in at a local car show last summer. It was parked next to an 70's RS Escort in period orange and the Mazda orange is really rich in comparison. Shocking photos so if he's struggling to sell it maybe a sneaky bid could get called for :)
