Not Carlo Curly or Peter Hurford, but better for its honesty, and simple [apparently simple: it is not - it is artless as in not trying to be artistic] but it IS spine tingling, and so beautiful. Bach has both as part of his compositional armoury!

Not a great player or organ but it is still fabulous Bach.
Anyone who can coax music out of an organ must be respected: two, three or even four key boards plus pedal board.
All those stops, the combinations and couplings. Swell.
Sadly fewer and fewer can afford to maintain a decent machine and some are sure to be scrapped which is a great sadness.
I worked on a Willis organ which had a rank of pipes that was so powerful that they restricted their use for fear of doing damage to the church if used too often. It had the most wonderful high pressure reed stops. 5000 pipes and if you ventured into the loft you could get lost amongst them…
