Decent win by Liverpool helped no end by Porto who at times were woeful. It is strange as they are a good side and unbeaten in 18 in all matches up to last night but something seems to happen when they play Liverpool . Curtis was amazing last night both in his attacking passes and work but also in the defensive part of the game of he can get some consistency to add to this he is going to be some player . Sir Roger Hunt would have been impressed .

City miles the better team but this can happen when chances are not taken. DeBruyne always needs a few weeks to return to sharpness but Rodri, as against Chelsea, was the dominant midfielder on view. Messi is simply one of the best finishers the game has seen - allow him to run towards goal at your peril.
Jack will have to do a lot more than he did against PSG, who defended really well and had the luxury of playing us on the break after scoring first and a typical Messi goal to seal it. Don’t get the crying over KDB’s tackle, he was only slightly late and you can’t just take your foot away at that point. Rudiger got away with smashing KDB in the CL final without even being sent off - not even sure if he was booked.

I thought the Blues really poor from start to finish too slow on the build up against a resilient Juve defence. Schoolboy stuff for their goal, we lacked creativity we still need a midfielder like Cecs we never replaced him.

Regards,

Martin

Really poor performance by Chelsea tonight - the fact that Tuchel made FIVE changes during the match tells its own story.
Lose at the weekend to the Saints and the tabloids will have us in crisis with Tuchel on his way out.:)

BBC : Chelsea: Thomas Tuchel puzzled by 'strange' display from the Blues in Juventus defeat

I’m not at all puzzled. Obviously his players stepped out of the dressing room, thought they were playing Newcastle so drifted into holiday mode for the walk in the park.

There is a school of thought that Mr. Ashley is deliberately sabotaging NUFC's season by persisting with Mr. Bruce in order to be relegated and thus becoming free to press forward with "The Takeover" in the Championship by circumventing the Premier League's rules n regulations. If so it is going swimmingly.

After another big win for The Countrymen today, 6-1 at a very wet Worsbrough, Hallam are top of the league!

A hat-trick for Liam Royles, with this horrendous goal making it 51 goals on this incredible ten game winning run, Hallam’s best-ever in the NCEL.

(Unbelievable, Jeff.)

TOTL. For now!

Just back from Stamford Bridge. Not seen any replays but looked like two major refereeing decisions to talk about. The disallowed goal that Martin Atkinson brought back for a foul that took place last century and a red card that looked nothing more than a straight foul in real time.

Solid performances from Loftus Cheek and Chalobah and a sublime pass from Berkley for the second goal, but not a great performance overall. Still, a much needed win

0 -0 against a mid-table team. A bit disappointing, currently 5th so I suppose I can't complain too much.

good day at the bookies, had 5 x £4 bets, so far £29.80 in account, one bet to go. No it is not on spurs v villa, that could end up anywhere

Chelsea’s disallowed goal yesterday prompts a question; if play can be brought back to a foul (in this case by two previous phases of play) to disallow a goal, why can’t the same happen when a foul is made in the build up, but a goal is not scored?

In yesterdays game after Werner’s disallowed goal, Lukaku was fouled several times before laying the ball off for Werner whose shot was brilliantly saved. Why was play not brought back to the foul?

Is this an area where Football can learn something from Rugby?

What I saw yesterday (from the comfort of my sofa;)) was Southampton players continually pulling back/grabbing Chelsea players to try and disrupt their flow. On many occasions Atkinson (who surely needs to be pensioned off) waved play on as the Chelsea player was strong enough to stay on his feet and continue the move. None of these fouls were retrospectively punished which had the effect of levelling the game and of course encouraged Southampton to continue this tactic throughout the match.
Refereeing standards in the PL continue to be the worst in Europe and are arguably getting even worse.
