I have a Stereo Coffee ldr pre that I used when demo-ing power-amps in a shop. The assistant was impressed by the SC & said "You'll have to spend a lot of money to get something better". I've only got his opinion, apart from what I'm experienced so far myself.
Plus several favourable comments on my system at the North-East bake-off earlier this year.
But I've wanted to find out.
So I've tried a few preamps since, including an Ayre K5. The SC was better.
Then I saw this. It's blingy, but does look great (IMO).
I believe Jez Arkless had some input into the design. (not the bling though!)
And it performs well, very well. It's closely- comparable with the Stereo Coffee. The chap I bought it from is friends with owner of 'Amp King' & got him to work on it, & build a new PSU.
It does not use a remote though, which I like, so the St' Coffee which has one, still edges it for me.
A very good performer, especially for the modest cost, & if you like the looks, even better. It's in very good condition.
