I am new to the forum and posess little or no electronics knowledge. I am on a mission to upgrade my humble Marantz cd600 ki after I heard the improvements in my friend's cdp of the same model. It was modded by audiocom. I have searched this and one other forum for some guidelines.
So far I have settled on a Clock upgrade + psu from Net-audio which seemed to be of reasonable value...or atleast more so than Trichord and Audiocom.
as to the rest of the mods I am open to suggestions.
But I have a few specific questions regarding the Audiocom upgrade scheme and would be very greatful if those in the know would be kind enough to answer them

1.are the "sonic" upgrades possible at a lower cost.?
2.Are there suitable substitutes for the Black Gates?
3.is the proposed scheme for the implementation of the BGs an effective one?
4. are there cheaper substitues for the voltage regulators? I have on the ALW site but gather that they are not sold as completed units. is that correct?
5. I have been trying to find the replacement Schottky diodes advocated by Audiocom in the scheme without luck. what other diodes can one use?
