A thread to catalogue the eloquence, dignity, diplomacy and wisdom of Boris Johnson II

I'll admit that I haven't read much of this thread, but there was a story on one of the news feeds yesterday, that Dominic Cumings might unwittingly rescue Johnson, because most of the ministers hate him so much that they would rather rally round BJ than let DC have an influence.

apparently the cops are going to investigate the parties at no 10

mind you alot of use that is going to be....i'm sure they arnt brave enough to give BJ a good kicking.... who'd volunteer to drag him to the cop shop - cut off his clothes for a strip search.....mind you i'm sure there'll be some cops with strange enough fetishes to want ago.

This clown certainly knows how to aquire then hang on to power with the connivance of others. Dick won’t be able to stop continuing leaks though.

The sequence of this means that Dick is effectively working for Sue Gray. Her police service couldn’t act before she had heard from a civil servant ?

Cressida Dick is an absolute disgrace to her uniform. So no change there. I caught the tail end of her evasive PR bullshit and it was blindingly obvious she has been dragged to this position due to the impending law suit from Good Law Project (which she knows the Met would lose) and plans to do whatever she can to protect the Tory government by delaying, limiting scope etc in an investigation she is doing under obvious duress. A corrupt police commissioner protecting a corrupt alt-right government. Covid punishments are for students and other little easily bullied people, not for our sacred Bullingdon elites.

A statement on today’s events from Good Law Project:

“Cressida Dick has finally confirmed that the Met Police will investigate the parties held in No 10 Downing Street and Whitehall, after we initiated formal legal proceedings against them.

We first wrote to the Met six weeks ago warning that their decision not to investigate reports of parties in Downing Street appeared to be unlawful and we would sue them unless they reversed (or properly explained) it.

The Met’s determination to outsource this vital job to the civil service, via Sue Gray, was unbelievable then – and remains so now. It is hard to imagine the Met Police acting “in concert with” any other workplace that is suspected of wrongdoing, because they “have access to all sorts of things” and “know the systems” (to quote Dick’s announcement today).

We remain deeply concerned by the perception that it’s one rule for the Government and one rule for everyone else.

The Met must now ensure that justice is not only done but seen to be done – and the Prime Minister is treated as anyone else would be.

We are discussing today’s developments with our legal team and will update you on the next steps in our legal action soon.

Good Law Project only exists thanks to donations from people across the UK. If you’re in a position to support our work, you can do so here.”

Rough sequence of events:
  • Met tries to avoid producing what all and sundry would know was a whitewash.
  • Pressure mounts so high that Met is forced into producing said whitewash.
  • Everything else has to stop while awaiting the precise, probably cleverly worked out details of the whitewash which absolves Johnson, and which all and sundry know is a whitewash.
  • No subsequent meaningful investigations can take place, and Gray report effectively now irrelevant because Johnson exonerated by said whitewash.

BREAKING: Sue Gray report may be published before Met investigation ends

We've got a breaking news line now from the BBC's Political Editor Laura Kuenssberg.

We've been reporting that parts of senior civil servant Sue Gray's report into Downing Street parties will be delayed while the Metropolitan Police Service investigates.

But Laura says this may now have changed. She says the Met seems to have indicated they have no objection to the full report being published before the end of the investigation.

This means the report may be published sooner rather than later.

However, she adds that the situation remains very unclear and there's a real sense at Westminster that nobody knows what the decision will be.

We'll bring you more details as we get them.

They need to keep Johnson in until may elections, if they get a drubbing which is possible then the they will push him out. Been said before though if he is the best they could come up with before the next conservative candidate is going to be worse. We need a strong party in power and an equally strong opposition to run a country properly and sorry to say we still have neither. Labour may be improving but is it quick enough ?

Courtier Laura in with the nothingburger scoop. Perhaps someone who’s more interested in justice rather than honours, preferment and backhanders will do the decent thing and leak it verbatim.
