‘Round Midnight

I now have more recordings of ‘Round Midnight than I can shake a stick at, but I think my favourite is still the version by Mulligan and Monk I first bought on vinyl when I was 18.

This is a very good question. It’s quite incredible the number of standards that Monk trotted out in his early phase. A genius. I need to give this some further thought.

Dunno if it's my favourite but I love this stomping soul jazz version by Ray Bryant. Just so wrong and yet...

Like @foxwelljsly I've got innumerable versions but, while not the most obscure choice, my favourite is probably Miles' version on Round About Midnight. It just seems to draw the wistful melancholy out of the tune - as Miles was wont to do with a host of songs.
