Gromit
Plasticine Dog
I've reasonable amount of experience with the 1200/1210, having done the psu/arm etc thing. Didn't go much further than this but doing so opened the window on the massive potential hiding within this turntable.
I would...
1. Keep the Expo phonostage - it's superb. I borrowed a Dynavector P75 when I had my VII/VI and it was no improvement. The P75 was £400 at the time, a fair bit more now.
2. Don't put the Rega arm on the Technics. I had a fully Origami'd 251 but even though the arm is superb in its own right, I don't think it's a great match for the Tecchy - it's dynamically and musically clumsy IME on it, but perhaps look at a used Jelco 750D instead if you can find one. Reckon on about 300 quid for that.
3. I hear good things about getting the Technics' psu out of the plinth, gets the 'noise' away from the system.
This is, of course, a personal opinion - and I just wish I had 500 quid to spare to spend on my rig.
