I thought this was rather funny..

And if he simply had left the €2,000 watch on no one would have cared/noticed. Now it's all of a sudden it's going to be "news worthy" whether he wares it or not going forward, silly decision to remove it mid interview and only ended up deflecting attention from his message..

Wearing an expensive watch is one thing (and quite acceptable).

Taking it off mid interview is quite another - presumably on the advice of advisers (who I would assume are sacked by now..).

The world gets madder by the day...
Nobody would be surprised by anyone in that position having an expensive watch, in fact it is cheap by Rolex standards

Macron isn't exactly in a comfortable position at the mo. Whatever he does is wrong, wearing a cheaper watch would have been even wronger (>>hypocritical).

I actually find it more offensive when affluent people dress down to show they are ‘grounded’ etc.

If you have money wear nice clothes, drive a decent car etc don’t pretend to be a prole.

Absolutely, it's not even an expensive watch.

How do we know?

Sat round a table one night and we compared two Cartiers, one was c£3k and the other under a fiver. Only difference was something about the way the hands moved, both weighed much the same.

I often wear my automatic Omega on one wrist, and a fitness tracker on the other - usually under long sleeves. Both tell time. Does that make me a twat?

I have a Rolex and a Casio calculator one. Neither is worn. Makes me less of a twat?
