GL can only be unpatriotic if the language of 30’s Germany is being patriotic.

That's their last line of defence isn't it? When you've lost the argument just accuse them of being anti British. Except in this case it is someone who represented their country at a very high level and one of it's best ever footballers, so I'm not sure it will wash.
