The Last Of Us

Zombie stuff has never been my cup of tea. What made Last of Us Part 1 work for me was the great Uncharted on stealh mechanics and the Personal journey Joel and Ellie undergo.

the ending was super satisfying and open at the same time.
The game left great memories and thoughts.

but man I was done…

videogame memories
1. Reaching Mexico in RDR
2. Winning sword duels in Monkey Island
3. Being chased by dogs in the first ResEvil

I just stared watching Chernobyl again the other day, it's as good as I remember, absolutely gripping. Loving the Last of Us.

Agreed the Chernobyl series was amazing... will have to look into the last of us- as there are Zombo's in it.:)

Absolutely not a fan of anything with a zombie in it. Not a massive game player either. My 17 year old advises that the game was okay but largely disappointing. Both of us have read the Chernobyl book and, if anything, the series was better. I will sit down and watch episode 2 tonight but on the basis of episode 1 I am in for the long haul. Anyone put off by the zombie thing really ought not to be. Heard great things about Nick Offerman in episode 3 too.

No, not HiFi buffs. If the story is about a few survivors in a post apocalyptic world populated by zombies infected by an alien virus who live off the flesh of ordinary people, then it’s socialists.

Did you fall asleep? No alien virus involved at all.

I hate zombie and horror films and although I am a lifelong gamer not a fan of this sort of game. But I thought the first two episodes of the tv show were excellent.

My only problem is I have a super high-end 4k rip of it it seems some part of our wifi of media server setup cannot stream it to the bit telly in the living room.

I have similar issue with some shows with 4k rips despite having a wireless router with the supposed power that i could get my network in the moon, i think its more to do with the transcoding abilities in the nas, so I pop the files on a Usb stick and plug it in to the tv and play it direct, seems to work fine after that.

Transcoding will be being done by Plex on my Linux server (i3 Coffee Lake CPU I think) so I don't think that will be an issue. And it plays just fine on my PC or my bedroom TV with a wired connection. I might switch that to the wifi network and see if that works.

The WiFi is actually pretty sketchy in the front room (EE Smart Hub router) and I wonder about getting a better router except I really don't want to spend £150 and it not make much actual difference. Also the new TV doesn't have WiFi 6 (which is oddly expensive it seems) and this further puts me off upgrading the router.

Watched the first episode last night - enjoyed it but not overwhelming. SOme good stuff though and I hope it develops well.
Probably watch the second episide tonight or tomorrow.

Similarly to Chernobyl, the story is developing and showing different aspects across the episodes.
No spoilers, watched the third episode this evening, blimey.

I am holding back on this to see the general reaction to the whole series more maybe even a couple of series before I commit. Too often these days series start of brilliantly and then wane as the later series/episodes roll by. I am still scarred by The Walking Dead where the first 3 series were fantastic and then they slowly slipped to a point where I just didn't care anymore. The I did the whole thing again with Fear the Walking Dead... doh!

The third episode was fantastic.

Brilliant performance by Nick Offerman in particular.

I am generally against adapting source material too much, and the game deserves the respect of TV people not riding rough shod over it. But this episode was more like building out from a fairly small thing in the game, and it turned it into something great, IMO.
