From the date sheet's 'Features and Details' list this would appear to have 'planned obsolesce' baked in. I mean, what is wrong with just having an amplifier?

Then again, eventually it will just be an amplifier.

Another thing that comes to mind is that these had 47pF on phono during the time when Shure still ruled and 'expected' 400+ pF.

IOW, the usual M71 or M75 in wouldn't have sounded great.
