Can anybody explain the point in this advert, not being a specialist into British (humour?)

It fascinates me how Naim threads just seem to run and run …..

Now, if they’d embrace MQA, the threads could run and run and run and run …..

I’m thinking of printing these ads, framing them and hanging them up in my shed(listening room). I never imagined such love for Naim in Pfm. :):):);):):):):):););)

Not familiar with most British humor, those old Naim ads make no sense to me! But I love the old Naim gear all the same...you can call me a fanboy.

Naim is under different owners, they have moved far from their roots and are a totally different company today. No point in beating a dead horse. It's tiresome really.

They were good adverts IMO. They got the brand’s very striking and modern design aesthetic across very well with humour whilst totally avoiding entering any specifications/marketing guff wars etc. They are basically just product placement. The reviews and dealers did the rest. This was Naim’s strongest era IMHO. I know they made much more money later on, but this was the high watermark design wise by far. It was radical kit that has aged very well.

Yep, most of those ads are all about the design and the brand...

I wonder how many of the daft props they had made are still kicking around somewhere. At Naim HQ...

Never seen that one before.

They must have had a fun time, how many were actually employed in the 80s CB period apart from JV and PS ?

As I understand there were far more manual work hours involved on circuit boards before conversion to Olive.

I liked the Naim of old, it’s marketing, culture…..interestingly, the best sounding amp I ever had of theirs was a NAP180…..I was intrigued as to why it sounded streets ahead of the current crop; 200, Supernait, Supernait 2, XS etc….apparently JV was really annoyed when the use of lead solder was banned. He claimed it sounded way better than it’s eco-replacement and I’ve wondered if that was the reason?……anyway, Naim of old, yes please!!

A new director for Naim? If an executive director that could be one thing. A non-exec is just representing something else.

If an executive, it depends entirely on their role as to the potential importance to outsiders like customers. An executive finance director, or marketing, or managing? Who knows - as far as I know reports of a new director don't tell you anything about their role. Examining their other directorships, if any, might tell you if they are strongly connected to ownership parties or are perhaps a jobbing chairman.
