Lyrics About Audio

klfrs

chill out
Goodgroove by Derek B gets many a spin here, but only recently clocked this lyric.

Cruised for a while, turned up the cd
JBLs were shaking to the sound of Public Enemy

at 2:55

Are there others I've missed?

Wired for Sound by Cliff...?!

Or Madame Hi-Fi by Meatraffle? Not saying you'd want to listen to it more than once (they've done better) but definitely about audio. And the nostalgia factor of the video being filmed in Walrus Systems and Sister Ray.

They had a hifi phono system and boy did they let it blast,
Seven hundred little records all rock rhythm and Jazz.

As there’s no lyric sheet with Massive Attack’s first album, I never quite understood what Rob’s saying here on the title track, ‘Blue Lines’:

Seeking knowledge, not acknowledging the jetset

Silver papers of the sound
(I think) within my Boodo Khan headset (what?!)

Again, on ‘Five Man Army’:

’Cos D’s my nom de plume you know but 3’s my pseudonym

And around my neck you know I wear the Sony Boodo Khan
(yeah, whatever)

Once again, on ‘Daydreaming’:

Living in my headphones Sony's what I say to 'em

The surreal boom of the Budokan stadium
(ok, I’ve at least heard of the stadium)

Recently, I stumbled on his particularly snazzy Walkman that cassette wonks might know, and it all made sense:

Perhaps the funkiest ever G-funk, heard playing in the car at the start of Snoop’s ‘Murder Was The Case’, with a West Coast who’s who for a video...

A Warren G production sits in the tape deck

Before the best rhyming ever:

Stretched, taken to the extreme feelin'
Dancin' on the ceilin' like Lionel
If ya hear me on some vinyl

'Spin the Black Circle' by Pearl Jam... which definitely has nothing to do with drug-taking. No sirree-bob!

See this needle
Oh see my hand
Drop, drop, dropping it down
oh so gently
here it comes
touch the flame
Turn me up
won't turn you away

Spin, spin
spin the black circle
Spin, spin
spin the black, spin the black
Spin, spin
spin the black circle
Spin, spin
whoa

Pull it out
a paper sleeve
Oh my joy
only you deserve conceit
Oh I'm so big
and my whole world
I'd rather you
rather you, than her

Spin, spin
spin the black circle
Spin, spin
spin the black, spin the black
Spin, spin
spin the black circle
Spin, spin
whoa

Oh you're so warm
oh, the ritual
as I lay down your crooked arm

Thanks very much to all. Suspected I'd missed few, but Selector, Specials and Dead Kennedys are embarrassing as in collection and played.
