As in the title I am looking for an advice from experienced pinkfishers for recommendations of cheap second hand speakers which will hold me for time being before make a final decision on the proper ones.

I am using a Devialet expert 1000 pro ,room dimensions are around 4x4m so around 16 Sam

My amplifiers are very dynamic, neutral and fast also very detailed.
I like neutral sound but also slightly warmer midrange ,detailed ,dynamic ,with very controlled and dynamic base and clear but not harsh highs.

All advice highly appreciated.

Thank you.

Thanks.
Are these comparable to something like monitor audio gs20 or totem arro for example?
Yes, I’d say so. The Katans are compact stand mount speakers so definitely won’t have the bass weight of the GS20s… the Ninkas will though, and they’re detailed at the top end without getting harsh or aggressive. The Ruark Talismans are very nice too, clean punchy bass, open lively mids and well behaved treble… they fall a little short of my active Ninkas in terms of bass weight and top end detail, but they’re easy to drive and lots of fun. I have a pair on a Naim system. Similarly, Neat speakers tend to be punchy, lively and open without being aggressive.

At your price range,
Dynaudio(neutral to warmer)
Proac(neutral to brighter, lean bass)
Harbeth(warmer, fuller and looser bass)

Not sure how they will match with your Devialet 1000 Pro though.

Q Acoustics Concept 30.

You wont find better for the money.

If you can increase budget, there is a set of Concept 300's on eBay. These are my lifetime speakers (albeit in Grey) and are spectacular.

(just confirm they come with their designated stands as they do when brand new as have to be used with them and you will want to use them as they look great )

Or if you want floorstanders, Concept 50s

Ruark Crusaders. Way under a grand and you’ll sell them on for the same. Agree Talisman’s are amazing for £200-250.

Dynaudio Contour 1.8’s. I loved my 1.1’s but have used both.

Or stretch your budget and get some ATC’s which will also hold their value.

It’s findings Crusaders that’s the challenge… also I’d look for MK2s, they’re the best variant in my opinion, by a decent margin. Wonderful speakers that can and do hold up in a serious system today.

I do adore my Talismans though, they’re in an “budget” Naim system and it’s definitely more than the sum of it’s parts. I’d love to try them in a more serious system!

I used Talismans in my main system for ten years and they were great.
