NHK World program on vinyl in Japan

There was a short program about vinyl on NHK World yesterday. There's quite a lot of filler and some stuff that I'm not sure is actually quite correct(!) but I found it interesting to see stuff like the lacquers being made.

The guy the interview works for this record plant in Tokyo: https://toyokasei.co.jp/new/en/record/index.html

This is the classical music cafe they visit - I visited a few years back, an absolutely incredible place: https://thevinylfactory.com/features/meikyoku-kissa-lion-tokyo/

Thanks I didn't know about NHK world -lots of interesting-looking stuff

Sorry Paul,
I posted this as well While I was watching it this afternoon before I noticed that you posted about it this morning.

I'm one of the people he mentions that got into city pop in more recent years. It's the sort of music I could never imagine myself getting really into 10 years back, but it's just a great vibe.

And yeh, vinyl city pop albums are bloody expensive.

Especially when a Sumo Basho is going on! Daily highlights are available on-demand. Basho's (tournaments) take place every two months and last 2 weeks. The next one starts the second Sunday in July.

Seconded, I watch the 27 minute highlights videos each day they’re available while doing my 30 minute exercise bike stint at lunch time. Looking forward to lunch time on the 11th.
