Just want to add my wishes for a speedy and full recovery for your furry fella. The little sods truly do leave pawprints on your heart.

They absolutely do worm their way into your affections. They're also annoying little buggers, but it's when something happens to them you realise how much they mean to you. This happens with dogs too.
Hope your little one recovers well and soon.
