Yellow Porsche..!!

Wow, he literally had no idea! Struggling to think of any RS Porsche that hasn’t shot up in value.

I remember when you could get a 911 for £15k but I didn’t buy one then either. Club Sports only appreciate also.

Yes, no one wanted them back then did they 'really' (no matter what they say now). The 997 was out and a brave new world awaited us all.

The same guy actually bought Keith Flints old 996 GT3 RS for £58k back in 2011 with 8k miles on it. He didn't like it as much as his modded 996.1 GT3 Clubsport (mainly road use) so sold it on within a year...this is the actual car.

I know it's factory, but that spoiler is a bit Demon Tweeks.

Yeah, over here in NI we still have a good few years before the fun Police shut alot of things down. I can leave my house and do a 2 hour drive and literally pass no traffic lights/cameras.

A mapped Golf R would also probably beat this car but it's not about that. There's the noise/vibration and it's a bit of a workout to drive...hard to explain really

In your shoes I would have bought what you bought.

Not really. Electric cars are damn fast from standstill.

Yes. I think pretty much everyone on this thread will know that. However, a 911 GT3 isn’t really about that. It’d be like trying to say a 2022 F1 car is the same as a McLaren with the Honda V12 when it just isn’t. One makes the hairs on my body stand up, the other makes me drift off to sleep.

The GT3 will be a delight to the ears, a thrill to brake, steer and change gear in. It looks lovely. It can drive Land’s End to John o’Groats with a few short fuel stops. It’s a lovely thing to stare at.

It doesn’t sound totally bloody stoopid.

...and dull as fook...for now anyway. Stuff's coming down the line

For sure. But dull is the reality for many people's drives. The majority of Porsches (and other sports cars) are pottering around crowded roads.
You are a lucky chap. But you also know your stuff. Enjoy.

Yes, but once you get past the novelty of leaving your kidneys in the back seat a couple of times, it all gets a bit *meh*, especially as you'll have one eye on the crashing remaining range figure as you try and chuck around two tonnes of battery and drivetrain.

My wifes next car will be EV within say 3 years....I'll egg out my ICE existence a bit longer. plan is to keep the GT3 and buy a GR86 and mod it a bit as the 'daily'.

Porsche already have the EV Cayman in development which will have battery and 'motor' mid mounted (not flatbed battery tray) so the weight dynamics will be there I guess. Lotus are at it too so there is hope in terms of EV manufacturers focusing on weight/dynamics and not just pushing the Tesla Agenda which has reduced car performance down to 0-60 time and range.

Tesla acceleration is not even a nice sensation, it's damn right uncomfortable and the sound is shit.

Analogue cars are where its at and this is a great example. I always thought this model of GT3 looked like it was made out of just one piece, a really solid and good looking, purposeful machine. Enjoy Andy.

I live in Ireland too and saw a few German registered Morgan's and Caterham's sat together on a car park over the weekend. A fair way to come in those things, but they looked like all you need to have a great time on our roads.

Quite a few British sports cars in Germany, of all ages. There was a time when sports car manufacturers in both countries competed...

On the subject of acceleration, a Tesla may beat a Porsche off the line, but it'll lose interest once you get much past that 62mph figure, in common with most other electric cars. And the 0-62mph sprint is a largely pointless statistic, anyway.

It's a K400 Manthey Racing kit.

"K40 OMR" plate was available here in NI for £250 so I've snapped it up and will print up shown below once you move the space.

The only other Manthey Clubsport this color/spec in the UK has English plate "K40 OCS". He actually 'found' me when I posted some images on Instagram so small world.

Isn’t that illegal to move / change the registration spacing? My understanding is it is now a MOT fail and repeat offenders caught by the authorities can have the Registration withdrawn by the DVLA and the original reissued.

Correct. It's also a £60 (?) F PN, but I've never heard of anyone being done for it, so I'm sure some people take the chance and swap plates for the MoT.

All I'll say is, in NI these sort of plates are still modified like that all the time. A bit backward here LOL and that can have it;s advantages if you're a car head. Same thing with using fonts like Metro etc, you don't get pulled unless you're an 18 year old with a mapped diesel Bora chugging out black smoke and acting the dick.

When we come over to tour Wales or Scottish Highlands, we have a second set of 'legal' plates that get fitted.

The mods on my existing Porsche got thru the last MOT just fine...not a chance over in England.

15-20 years ago, if you took something like a classic Escort into certain MOT centres they wouldn't hand over the Certificate until you took it out the back and did donuts for them. There's a reason NI has garages full of amazing cars although it is getting stricter...

The fine is up to £1000 now, but it is normally dealt with by the Police via a Vehicle Defect Rectification Scheme notice and maybe a Fixed Penalty Notice. I’ve heard of a few people I know getting done years ago and it was just a FPN fine. Apparently, the Police are now clamping down more on illegal plates now, especially as some are difficult for Automatic Number Plate Cameras to read and this is a tool the Police use to monitor vehicle movements. Saying that, I do see many illegal plates driving around, so the Police can’t be trying too hard on this. It really should be a 3 point endorsement on top of the fine.

I’ve also read that not all Police authorities report offences to the DVLA. Apparently, after two offences, the DVLA can revoke the misused registration plate and issue a random replacement.

The DVLA ought to have a list of embarassing plates they can issue in these circumstances. Things like T055 ERS

Killjoys :)

At least my plate is specific to the car build.

I remember in the 80's back in Oz seeing a lovely Porsche with the plate RUNVS....still cracks me up but yes ...Tosser...
