Just an MP pondering on the rise of fascism under the Dear
Leader Liar. Entirely normal... Happens all the time in democracies.
Michael Rosen has the same warning for us all:
Fascism: I sometimes fear...
I sometimes fear that
people think that fascism arrives in fancy dress
worn by grotesques and monsters
as played out in endless re-runs of the Nazis.
Fascism arrives as your friend.
It will restore your honour,
make you feel proud,
protect your house,
give you a job,
clean up the neighbourhood,
remind you of how great you once were,
clear out the venal and the corrupt,
remove anything you feel is unlike you...
It doesn't walk in saying,
"Our programme means militias, mass imprisonments, transportations, war and persecution."
Now some of the left-leaning members on here seem to like to pick apart and intellectualise various scenarios about our downward slide (let's all sit down and have deep discussion about this whilst the country is falling apart, a la Nero), and some dismiss important factors, like the power of social media to spread hate & division. But the main reason some of us are so f-ing angry is because the so-called opposition are seemingly doing nothing to stop this. It's getting to the stage where the only way to overthrow the rottenness at the heart of our so-called government, who are pushing this country down towards the f-word, is by violence or rioting.
For God's sake, what else is there to do, if the opposition are MIA? Could someone please tell me?
