Max Roach - We Insist - Freedom Suite

My single RSD purchase...Wow! its amazing stuff.

I'd never heard of the singer on it , Abbey Lincoln, she is superb, as is the whole thing

If you like her voice you might enjoy this which was recently reissued:

I like the way her jazz singing has an almost operatic tinge.

Speaking of which, I'm currently playing Cecile McLorin Salvant's, Ghost Song :

TBH it is more admired than loved at the moment. It's brilliantly executed but maybe more cerebral than soulful?

Was disappointed in Reflektor and Everything Now which were v patchy in my view…
