My daughter Ellie has put together a brief survey about the reintroduction of wolves to the wild in the UK for her BTEC course.

There's rumours of stealth reintroductions down by Machynlleth.
Some great stuff about beavers in Isabella Tree's book, Wilding. And re Wolves, on the importance of an intact food chain which de-skews animal numbers lower down and allows unexpected species to thrive.

Google it and took find out why it never happened last time someone tried. The guy trying to bring them back wanted them to roam free, however the authorities wanted them fenced in, that made it ridiculously expensive, and a zoo

Sheep and deer mostly, I suppose, if they’re released in moorland areas. The odd highland cow?

There’d have to be a robust compensation scheme in place to reimburse sheep farmers affected by the predation.
